Another job of the restaurant owner is to grow the business. Successful businesses are those that continue to improve and grow their customer base. There are a few ways that a business can do this: get new customers, get current customers to return more often and/or get current customers to spend more money during their visit. In order to do this, you as the owner, need to come up with a marketing plan. How are you going to accomplish growing your business? This also goes back to the budget - hopefully you added a section to yours for marketing expenses.

3. The Team


Not only should you be concerned with your customers, but also with your team. As a business owner, it's your job to be a leader as well. It's important that you have systems in place and teach your employees how to follow them. It's your job hold your team accountable on a daily basis. Your team needs both structure and encouragement. You want to keep your employees happy, while also making sure your team is operating efficiently.

To be successful, a restaurant owner must take a step back, and work on the business rather than in it.
