4 Ways to Increase Restaurant Profit

One of the most difficult industries to make it in is the restaurant business. When it comes to competition, there's a lot of restaurants for people to choose from. As a restaurant owner, one of your top priorities is making sure your restaurant is profitable. Today's blog from Fast Fix LLC focuses on a few ways for you to increase profit.

1. Hold Regular Staff Meetings.

The key to running a successful and profitable restaurant is having a great staff. Just having great servers and chefs isn't enough though; you have to make sure everyone is on the same page. Everyone needs to know their expectations, and also needs to be praised for their hard work. The best way to accomplish continuity throughout your restaurant is to hold regular staff meetings. This time can be used to discuss possible improvements, while also praising the good work that's been taking place. By preparing your staff, they'll better be able to serve your customers.

2. Increase Customer Numbers.

How do you attract more customers and keep them loyal? Offer specials and discounts. Create a loyalty program. Give your customers an added value that they don't get going somewhere else to eat. By increasing the number of customers you have, and also the frequency of their visits, you're sure to see an increase in profit. Another key factor to consider with this is the rate of table turn. While you don't want to rush your customers, you also don't want them sitting around all night. Make sure you are staffed appropriately to get people in the door, served and out the door in a timely fashion.

3. Encourage Up-Selling.

Another way to increase profits is to increase the amount of money customers are spending on each trip. Make sure your staff is attentive to the customers and able to read the signs. While you don't want to push your customers to buy something they don't want, suggestions can often be beneficial. Maybe the group hadn't even considered purchasing dessert, but when your staff suggested the delicious ooey-gooey butter cake, they just couldn't resist. Suggesting appetizers, best sellers and signature cocktails are all great ways to increase the amount your customers are spending while in your restaurant.

4. Find Ways to Cut Expenses.

If you're having a difficult time increasing the amount of money coming in, maybe it's time to look at the amount going out. Take a look at all your expenses. While some expenses are set and unable to be changed, other's may have some wiggle room. Be aware of food costs and food waste. Encourage your staff to be aware as well. Take a look at your utility bills. If they seem a little high, maybe it's time to take a look at your equipment efficiency. Often times some simple restaurant equipment maintenance in Missouri can help you save money on your electric bill each month.
